ARE you getting tired of spending Christmas the exact same way as the previous years? Do you fancy doing something special this year? Why don’t you celebrate it abroad? It’s an unforgettable experience! The best Christmas destination in Europe are listed below.
Vienna, Austria

During the winter holidays, time seems to stand still in Vienna, the capital of Austria. The Neues Rathaus is beautifully lit, there are dozens of little stands where you can buy everything you desire, you can go ice-skating on Rathausplatz or enjoy one of the many Christmas concerts. If you are looking for a magical Christmas, Vienna is the place to be!
London, United Kingdom
From the eighteenth of November until the second of January, Hyde Park turns into a huge Winter Wonderland! It’s one of the most popular places in London. With over 100 attractions and rides and entertainment for every age, there is something for everyone! For those who prefer Christmas shopping, don’t worry. There is the traditional German Christmas market with more than 200 chalets.
Strasbourg, France
In 1570, the first Christmas fair ever in Europe was held in Strasbourg. Ever since then, Strasbourg has continued this tradition. With over 300 stalls, spread out over 12 locations in the city centre, the Christkindelsmärik is definitely worth a visit. Besides the fair, you will find a wide range of cultural events and live performances.
Prague, Czech Republic

Celebrating Christmas in Prague is unforgettable! The city is festively decorated, especially old squares look magical. You will have a sudden fancy that you ended up in a fairy-tale world. Hundreds of nicely decorated stalls form a grand Christmas market. You can try the best local nourishments for example Trdelník, a kind of spit cake topped with hot sugar.
Salzburg, Austria
The birthplace of ‘Silent Night, Holy Night’, one of the most popular Christmas carols of all time, looks like a scenery from a fairy-tale during the winter holidays. Everywhere you go, you will be surrounded by Christmas decorations and gorgeously lit landmarks, trees,… From the seventeenth of November until the twenty-sixth of December, you can visit the Christmas market on Cathedral Square.
Nuremberg, Germany

Every year, Nuremberg hosts one of the oldest Christmas fairs of Europe, but it’s not an ordinary fair. There are plenty of stalls, all of them beautifully decorated and the only thing you will find there are handmade products and toys. The biggest attraction is the wooden Ferris Wheel, on top of which, you have a splendid view of the medieval city.
Copenhagen, Denmark
Brimming with lights, a festive spirit and dozens of little cafés, Copenhagen welcomes you around Christmas. The Tivoli Gardens, the Christmas fairs and the profusely decorated streets will make you wander in a winter wonderland. This combined with the Danish hospitality will make your experience even more remarkable.
Rovaniemi, Finland

If Christmas were a country, Rovaniemi would definitely be the capital! According to the European legend, this is where Father Christmas/Santa Claus lives. You can even visit his house in Santa Claus Village. Apart from Santa Claus Village, there is a lot to do in this little town in Finland. You can go on a husky excursion through snowy landscapes, enjoy the northern Lights and stay at a wooden cottage. In short: a dream for everyone who loves Christmas!
Needless to say, spending Christmas at home with friends and family also can be magical! As Burton Hills said: “The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree: the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other.”

This text beautifully captures how each city adds its own magic to the Advent season, turning December into a glowing celebration of tradition, culture, and community. I love how the descriptions balance atmosphere with detail— you can almost hear the music, smell the cinnamon, and feel the warmth of the lights in each place. It really shows that, even though every city celebrates differently, the spirit of Christmas connects them all. Reading it makes you want to pack a suitcase, grab a cup of hot cocoa, and experience every single Advent market in person. Absolutely enchanting.

I think celebrating Christmas somewhere else than at home is brilliant idea! Having to buy OR make presents for our family is in a way kind and thoughtful, but it really is tiring and takes a lot of money and time. Spending hollidays in a different country guves you opportunity to see the world and have a look in culture different than ours. We see how other people celebrate Christmas! We spend more time with our family and have a lot of fun with them, which makes us closer. Hapy chrima!

I think this text is very well written and along with the pictures that were put into it, it really brings out the Christmas spirit. It really brought out my love for Christmas and I feel like it could make a person that doesn’t fully enjoy Christmas wish to travel to one of the destinations. I like how it fully represents all of the traditions of the certain places so a person could picture it even without seeing it. I would recommend this text to anyone that doesn’t want to do anything regular for Christmas this year or just wants to avoid the embarassing family dinners. Or on the other hand this text is good for the people that want to go celebrate the holidays with their family or friends outside of the country or basically just wants to explore.
